If the software versions are the same, copying the configuration to a TFTP server is the surest and most problem gratuitous way to go. If you lot aren't using the serial console (and therefore wouldn't take that problem) then that presupposes you lot have IP connectivity established so you might equally well apply TFTP instead of pasting the configuration in there. I respect Robert's suggestion to use ASDM but it can be cranky to go it working if it isn't already and you can spend a lot of time trying to figure out what coffee version you need.

No, y'all need to connect via the network to employ ASDM (just y'all would only need a minimal default configuration). The latest software for the 5506-X really has a default configuration available that is useful (e.g. it works enough for ASDM). In that location is even a factory default command (don't call up the exact control).

Then I restored the back up and now I cant login to ASDM. I am still continued via console cable but ASDM wont connect. Any ideas?

When you say you lot are connected via the console cable is that all yous are connected by? ASDM merely runs over a network connexion. Do you take basic IP connectivity?

I tried ethernet from my laptop to ethernet port #2 and attempted the original local IP that the old ASA used.
